Bringing Capitol Hill to Campus

Mountaineers are always eager to visit Capitol Hill, but it’s just as meaningful when we can welcome our federal partners to campus for a firsthand look at the impact of their support. Visits like these with members of Congress and their staff highlight how federal investments advance the University’s research enterprise, strengthen the student experience, support the University’s land-grant mission, and modernize critical infrastructure.

Most recently, WVU Federal Relations Director Suzanne Bentzel welcomed Thompson Moore and Ali McDaniel, Appropriations Directors for U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Jim Justice, along with Shaye Potter, Senator Capito’s newly appointed Field Representative. Their visit included a tour of the School of Dentistry Phase I renovations, discussions with Dr. Clay Marsh and Dr. Ming Lei, a briefing on PRT system upgrades with the WVU Transportation Director, and a visit to the Puskar Center. The day concluded at Blaney House with President Michael T. Benson, reinforcing the strong partnership between the University and federal stakeholders.
